Oklahoma legislature to hold redistricting town halls
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Legislature will begin holding a series of town hall meetings about the redistricting process to inform the public and, at least in theory, collect information from the public about the districts should be drawn to best reflect our state and ensure all Oklahomans are represented fairly. Here’s what we know so far:
Info About These Meetings
They have announced 18 meetings between both chambers. (Dates and location are listed below.)
Only 2 meetings are in the OKC and 2 in the Tulsa metro area, despite the fact that those areas represent more than half the population of the state.
There will be no standardized COVID-19 precautions across events; they are following the guidelines for each individual venue.
There will be a virtual viewing option for some of the meetings, but not all.
House-hosted events will be streamed here. No word yet on the Senate-hosted events.
The virtual option is view-only. Viewers will be unable to ask questions or give feedback in real-time; you must attend in person to do that.
If you have questions about the legislature’s redistricting process, you should direct them to your House representative.
General feedback about redistricting can be submitted to the legislature via this online form. The House redistricting office told me that everything submitted will be reviewed and compiled for the redistricting committee after all the town halls are complete.

How Voters Can Help
We all know that if we just sit idly by and don’t participate, the politicians will just draw the lines however they want. We can’t let them rig the system just so they’ll get re-elected - they should draw them to ensure that the people of Oklahoman are fairly represented!

Participate in one of the legislature’s town halls, either in person or virtually.
Put your community on the map by adding it to the PNP Community Mapping Drive using Representable.
